Ceramica Large 2.0

The size most people buy, from the brand already in the kitchen

€1,580.21

Too few measurements yet

We have only recently started tracking this price. Once we have measured enough days, this will say whether now is a good moment.

A forty-five centimetre grate puts the Ceramica Large next to the Grill Guru Original Large and the Big Green Egg Large: the class most kamados in the Netherlands are sold in, and the one you cook for six to eight on.

Boretti supplies it complete with grill, deflector plates and charcoal basket on a frame, so the price you see is the price you pay. At this size that is not a given: with Big Green Egg the nest, the side tables and the casters are all bought separately, and two tickets a hundred euros apart end up hundreds apart.

On this model, watch where you buy more than usual. The spread between shops here is wider than on most kamados in this list, which is exactly what the table below is for.

Who it suits: Anyone wanting the usual size delivered complete, and willing to compare shops.

Strong

  • Supplied complete, so no stand to buy separately
  • The usual size for six to eight people
  • Widely stocked, which is what makes comparing on price worth doing

Less strong

  • Boretti publishes no weight, and this is not a kamado you move alone
  • Prices vary sharply by shop, so ordering blind costs money

Accessories that fit this kamado

Firelighters

Fuel

Essential

Firelighters

Wood-wool lighters rather than fluid or chemical cubes. Lighter fluid is something you taste for the first hour, and in a kamado that flavour sits in the ceramic where it does not come out again.

Heat deflector 45 cm

Indirect cooking

Essential

Heat deflector 45 cm

Without a deflector the meat sits straight over the fire and a kamado is an expensive grill. The deflector turns it into an oven, which is what low and slow rests on. Check whether your complete set already came with one.

Meat thermometer

Measuring

Recommended

Meat thermometer

The gauge in the lid measures the air at the top of the dome, not the meat and not the grate. For anything taking more than an hour, core temperature is the only number that counts.

Cover 15–21 inch

Protection

Recommended

Cover 15–21 inch

The size that fits almost every medium and large, including most models with side shelves. To be safe, measure the width across the shelves rather than the diameter of the ceramic.

€24.99

Ash tool

Maintenance

Recommended

Ash tool

Ash in the base blocks the bottom vent, and a kamado that gets no air holds no temperature. A hook that reaches the back of the firebox is the difference between two minutes of work and half a teardown.

€20.95

Gasket felt

Maintenance

Can wait

Gasket felt

The felt between dome and base wears, and a kamado drawing air past the lid can no longer be held at a low setting. This is the part that comes due after a few years, and it is replaceable without tools.

Charcoal for this one

Every bag fits every kamado. What differs is the order: bags the maker sells as restaurant grade or large pieces come first, because large lumps let air through the stack and fines smother themselves.
